Exquisite lyrics conveying such wisdom in the truly remarkable stories in Noah and The Whale third album, reaching far beyond the years of the exceptional writer Charlie Fink. The whimsical charm that seemed to captivate audiences in the first album is still very much present in their new work, added to by the enthralling sense of anticipation of discovery, and the indescribable elation the thought of a new world brings. This making Noah and The Whale a band of great intrigue, appealing to audiences of all ages with their versatile and intractable songs, that speak of life in its entirety using lyrics that could be classed as poet and very moving, showing nothing but inexplicable beauty they seem to portray in every beat of their music so perfectly.

Noah and the Whale you are a rare and remarkable phenomena.

Hi John,

As I wrote, their stint was enjoyable. Both have lovely voices and most of the time the harmonies were nice. To my ear, there were a few times when one of the girls was singing low and one high, that seemed to produce a harsh harmony. It might have just been down to mixing. But I did enjoy their performance.

Thanks for your offer for Wednesday. I'd be happy to listen to them again, but I unfortunately can't make Wednesday. I hope the gig goes well.

The Chapin Sisters are now simply a duo. Their sister Jessica will only join them when she's around and available. It was wonderful for Zooey to join them for "Let Me Go" at Koko and it's a joy to part of the She & Him band. A huge BONUS to be able to open so many of the shows. I don't know about any vocal harshness you experienced - as I wasn't able to be there and I've never heard a comment like that before in regard to them - but I hope you'll give The Chapin Sisters another chance down the road. I don't have any more guest list room for Shepard's Bush Monday night (also w/She & Him), but if you'd be interested in checking out the Hoxton Grill show Wednesdasy night when they open for Harper Simon, I'd be happy to guest list ya. Let me know.

Great, you and other people enjoyed the gig (although maybe you have a reason to be biased?). I expected an experience from the gig that the band did not give me. There's a review on LastFm, where somebody believed the gig was 'shit'. People have different experiences. Maybe it was the venue, maybe it was the audience. I suspect both, but the gig was not what I was expecting. As I said in the final paragraph, I'm sure at a different venue, I'd really enjoy them live as much as I enjoy them on record. But live isn't record and the delicacy that's the album's strength was the gig's weakness. The sound quality and the audience around me, changed the experience of Noah's music from something I like, to something I didn't enjoy.

As I said in the review, I had two 14 years olds sucking each other's face off behind me and I could hear them over the band, so distracting from the songs. I also had two 14 year old girls (everyone under a certain age looks 14 to me) push to the front next to me and they spent all the time shrieking 'I love you' every few minutes, again ruining songs. There were a group of kids who had one too many shandies and were talking (shouting) throughout the gig that distracted from my experience of the gig. I don't normally go to gigs where that happens. Usually kids aren't allowed in or the band drown them out. This gig had a serious number of very young people. That's unusual compared to most gigs I go to. Yes, there was a wide age range, but there was a disproportionate number of younger people.

The fact that I didn't enjoy this gig, doesn't invalidate other people's enjoyment.
